The Facts
...
|
|
Fact:
You can not modify properties (i.e. color) of
an object (i.e. text object) in one report across
multiple reports with Crystal Reports at the
same time! |
Fact:
You can not search for the
existence of a specific object (i.e. Line,
Formula, Database Field, etc.) and/or its
property (i.e. Size, Width, Definition,
Name) in even one report with Crystal
Reports! |
|
Fact:
You can not change the data source, set
location, or convert driver on more than one
report with Crystal Reports at the same
time! |
Fact:
You can not "push" your
changes to multiple objects and their
properties (i.e. formula object, definition
property) in multiple reports with Crystal
Reports. The report repository first introduced with
Crystal Reports 9, while a good step forward
still requires you to open each
report individually and replace each
object with corresponding object in
repository aka "pull" changes. And before
you knew it -- the way it works changed
drastically in Crystal Reports 10 and XI
requiring an Enterprise repository to even
be useful. |
|
Fact:
You can
do all of the above and
more with
.rpt Inspector 3 Professional Suite!
|
A few examples of what you can do
(visit the
Features
page for tool details and screen shots):
- find all places in 100 reports
where the font is Arial and change them all (or
some) to Times New Roman
- find all formulas in 200 reports
where ".50" is being used and change it to ".55"
- find which formulas / parameters
/ fields are not being used in 300 reports
- find copy / standardize parameters
default values from one report to 300 reports
With .rpt Inspector 3 Professional
Suite, you get a powerful integrated suite of 16
powerful tools designed for Crystal Reports report designers,
users, administrators, and developers.
(screen shots and further details
are available on the
Features page)
Unlike Crystal Reports, with .rpt Inspector you can
open one, two, a hundred, or several hundred reports
all at the same time1. Which means
you can use the tools in .rpt Inspector to find and
filter "in common" objects and properties (formulas,
parameters, parameter default values, text, headers,
footers, size, driver, database, printer, schedules,
instances, database logons, formats, destinations, etc.)
across the selected reports, and modify them all at
the same time -- all with visual feedback.
|
|
|
1 The actual number of reports
that you can open at the same time, depends on your
system resources. Our users report that they've worked
with 300, 600, and even 800 reports all at the same
time to modify the various properties (formulas, parameters,
parameter default values, text, headers, footers, size,
driver, database, printer, etc.) of the selected report(s). |
