Crystal Reports® allows you
to use parameters to determine what content you want placed in a
report. This allows you to make reports available to a far
reaching audience in a way that will help them use information
in an intelligent, productive manner. Parameters improve your
reports processes but can become outdated and static very
quickly. They can also be very cumbersome and difficult to
manage for the end user. Your parameters are only as good as the
information used to create them.
SPL™ was designed to be fast, flexible, and easy to use for both
the user and the report designer. SPL™ seamlessly integrates
with ePortfolio out-of-the-box or can be integrated with your
custom frontend using our SPL™ SmartAPI™.
With SPL™, users are presented with the latest values for
parameters, retrieved from database(s) you specify. SPL™
also enhances ePortfolio and reduces network traffic using
iFrames or Pop-ups (with automatic browser detection and
fallback functionality) and by eliminating unnecessary and

Configuration and administration of SPL™ is done via our SPL™
MMC (Microsoft Management Console) snap-in. This easy to use
environment is already familiar to most report designers and
administrators, and allows you to select reports directly from
Crystal Enterprise™ to be managed by SPL™.
